Button front, with a sweet eyelet yoke, white softly ruffled lace, nylon satin ribbon and blue trim, this never worn Shadowline full length robe still has its 1971 paper hang tag. A separate tag identifies this fabric as "Pimatiste 65% Dacron Polyester and 35% Pima Cotton permanently finished with a fine batiste". Made in the USA this robe has short inset sleeves trimmed with white lace and nylon ribbon. Attention to detail is shown with the eyelet front pocket, trimmed with that same lace and satin ribbon, plus softly ruffled lace trim at the hem.

Because the tags are still attached I have not laundered this robe.

Shadowline was a lingerie company, located in Morganton, North Carolina. It was founded in 1946 by Sherrod Salsbury, Jr. The company had the reputation of producing lingerie of very high quality.

This was an original Salesroom sample, meant to be displayed in a Shadowline showroom. That is where department store and boutique lingerie buyers would come to see what was available to order. The salesroom is where they could buy merchandise in bulk for a future season.

This robe is in Pristine Never Worn Condition, worn only briefly for this photo shoot. It was very well made, with so many lovely designer details. This is a robe to treasure.
