Schreiner Of New York
60's Multicolored Inverted Rhinestone Belt

Really wild signed, Schreiner belt in the most perfect jewel color combination. This piece is the most standout belt by a legendary designer featuring his trademark ‘inverted’ stones. Henry Schreiner started the Schreiner Jewelry Company in 1939 and was director until his death in 1954. His daughter and son in law carried the business on until 1977. In the 1950s he made jewelry for Christian Dior. His jewelry is very distinctive for its use of unusual mounts and subtle color combinations, using the finest quality rhinestones and crystals. He made exceptionally glamorous belts, bib necklaces, unusually colored baroque brooches, and large pendant earrings, always glamorous. Bette Davis and Marilyn Monroe promoted his jewelry and wore it in various films. His jewelry is widely collected. Total length is 30 1/2" long. Some discoloration on the backside and a few wires poking out as shown in the last two photos. Exquisite RARE find!
