Beautiful Robbins' Journal, by Archibald Robbins and printed by Conde Nast in a limited edition of 355. It has an imposed illustrated cover and gold gilt edged pages, it is missing the original slip case.
This journal is an accounting the Wreck of the Brig Commerce and a treacherous journey off the West Coast of Africa from 1815 to 1817.
Designed by Lester Douglas and Illustrated by the highly acclaimed artist Earle B. Winslow. In the back each book was numbered 221 (of 355) and signed by Winslow but this also includes a personal inscription from him in the front of the book, see 3rd photo).
In excellent condition, published in 1931, most wear can be seen on the spine and back of the cover. The rest of the book is in excellent condition. A wonderful unique gift for any history or mid century art buffs.
