Lipstick Red Peplum Skirt Suit 50’s$150.00
This early 1950s skirt suit is made of fabulous, lipstick red, linen-textured, lightweight rayon and acetate blend fabric, with a subtle windowpane design in its weave. The contrasting, white sailor collar and cuffs on the jacket are made of mid-weight rayon/acetate blend fabric as well, but in a plain weave, except for the wonderful, multicolored stripe woven into the edge of the fabric, it is really quite eye-catching! The peplum-style, V-neck jacket has interfacing at the hips, to help it keep its curved, hourglass shape, below the fitted waist. It has large, squared shoulder pads at the top of the three-quarter-length sleeves. The double-breasted jacket closes with pearly white plastic buttons, each with a star-shaped indentation in its center. One row of buttons is functional, while the other is merely decorative. Although the jacket is otherwise unlined, it does have a double layer of the linen-textured fabric, all the way around, at the lower section/peplum, with the stiff interfacing inserted between the two layers. The mid-calf-length pencil skirt has a fitted waistband that fastens with hooks and eyes, as well as a metal side seam zipper. It is also unlined. The skirt hem has a small slit at the center back. In excellent to mint condition, this vibrant red 1950s ladies suit appears hardly worn, if ever, by its original owner. There are no issues to note.
