Recycled Bumblebee Brooch Made From Small Pewter 50s Bee Pins and Purple Violets Repurposed with New Magnetic Back Clasp Bonus Scarf$24.00
Many brooches in the 1950's were very small meant to be worn in pairs or trios. I recycled several of those small pins into a new whimsical design with tiny flowers and bees. That repurposing also made it into a very wearable contemporary magnetic-back brooch. As you can see in the photos in this reincarnation I chose to emphasize the deep purple colors in the vintage violet enamel brooches which I felt worked beautifully with the pewter bumble bees.
Two pewter bumble bees one larger than the other perch on a purple metal floral backing to which I also added vintage 1950's era violets.
Of course I removed all of the old pin backs and put on one new magnetic back clasp.
This piece recycles a number of lovely small vintage brooches combining them into one new setting that will add a cheerful note to every day you wear it.
The overall size is 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter.
Without a doubt this is a one-of-a-kind unique piece because it would be impossible to find this many of the same vintage 1950's era brooches again. Each of these vintage brooches was unsigned however each is nicely detailed and worthy of another life.
As a bonus to the new owner this magnetic-back brooch will arrive with a complimentary scarf the one shown here. Of course both the scarf and the brooch are wonderfully versatile accessories whether worn together or separately.
Firmly attached to the back is a very strong magnet that will hold this brooch to your garment handbag scarf or virtually where ever you want it to be that is until you choose to remove it.
The magnetic backs are easy to use:
With your thumb PUSH and SLIDE the top magnet off the bottom magnet. (DO NOT try to pull them apart because they are too strong.) Remember to always SLIDE.
Position your brooch anywhere convenient on top of your clothing and place the removed magnet beneath your garment and in back of the top magnet. Make sure you have the color-coded portion of the back magnet on the outside of the back. The 2 portions of the magnets will immediately bond together to create a secure attachment.
When you are ready to remove the brooch remember to use the same technique you used to put it on. Always SLIDE the bottom magnet off.
