Rarely found, this lovely vintage black fabric evening bag has a Twifaille by Rosenfeld of New York label. The purse measures approximately 6 and 1/2 inches tall by 9 inches wide and it is 1 and 1/4 inches deep at the bottom. Made to be used clutch style without a handle, this is a small bag you would carry in your hands.

As can be seen in the photos, the outside of the bag is a deep black semi-matte black satin fabric and the interior is fully lined with black and a deep gold silk. All of the fabric is in wonderful condition and there are no odors, stains or rips.

It has a Black Enamel small catch-type clasp on the top for the hinged frame and the entire mechanism still closes securely.

Either side of the front portion of the top of the bag has delicate hand-painted flowers in shades of red, pink and green.

There are two open interior pockets to hold of your essentials securely on the inside and one open compartment for your larger items.

This type of fabric is difficult to photograph without reflections, so be assured the exterior fabric is a rich black color and the overall look is wonderful.

I took close up photos of the hinges on the clasp because it shows even more of the fine detail that went into the construction of this evening bag.

As you can see, there is a symbol that looks like a stick person with open arms, or perhaps it is meant to symbolize the movement of the hinge itself. Words in a half circle around it are "Made in Germany".

For that reason I feel this evening bag was made either during the 1930's era or the very early 1940's. During WWII there would have been few available resources and very little interest in making luxury goods in Germany. After WWII all items from Germany were shown as either Made in East Germany or West Germany.

The purse is considered to be in Very Good to just below Excellent Condition because the only issues to report are very minor.
*** There is light tarnishing of the metal on the interior side of the frame, as shown in the photo.
*** As can be seen, the outside fabric is still in remarkable condition.
*** The corners aren't marked by rubbing.
*** The inside fabric is likewise clean, with the condition being quite remarkable for the age of this bag.
*** There are no stains, no tears, no odors and no stretching of the fabric.

One area that shows this evening bag was loved by the original owner is where the logo is located. Over time it has faded somewhat, which is probably due to items being inserted and removed from the bag. The logo is still visible and you can see that it is signed in gold lettering "Twifaille by Rosenfeld".
