So THIS is a rare treat! At the shop we would call this one a unicorn and when a customer brought it in we got so excited!
This is an early 1940s Vanity Fair midi nightgown with mini-pleat bust and hem accent in a beautiful light pink boxed in its original gift packaging with promotional gift still still inside!
It is in literal perfect condition. No wear, no aging (thanks to the acid free paper it’s been wrapped in for 80 or so years!). This is a step in nightgown and the shoulder straps are adjustable. So why is someone buying lingerie in a sporting goods store? (Story below the dress details)
We decided NOT to put the actual
Nightgown on our dress form as we did not want to take any chances in stretching out any of the pleating (as it’s all crisp and like new, we want whoever purchases it to have the same experience we did when first opening the box and seeing how pristine the nightgown is :)
We did however find a pic of the same exact gown just in a different color on a form so you can see what how it fits on the body.
This is a size small. It is made of nylon and lace so there is some stretch to the material.
The bust is 32-34 (it may accomodate a 36 but would be snug)
Waist:27
Hip:36
Length: 45
So why is someone buying lingerie in a sporting goods store? Good question! It was a shop located in the luxurious Davenport Hotel that catered to the needs of their guests. They carried everything from golf shoes something for the missus.
