From the well known designer Douglas Paquette, this never worn set of vintage gold tone metal belt interlocking buckles is heavily plated and is in Mint Unused condition, Evidence of that comes with the 1980's paper hang tag from the Talbots store still attached to the back. This chic opulent buckle set will fit standard size 1 inch removable/interchangeable belts.

The style resembles an infinity loop. Overall in length, when it is clasped together to be worn, it is 3 and 1/2 inches long by 1 and 1/2 inches high. With the domed aspect of the design the rise from the base is 3/4 inch.

This listing is for the set of removable belt buckle pair only, not the belt portion. Generally belts and buckles were sold separately so that the wearer could choose her own colors and styles.

Over the years several high-end designers made this type of belt buckle to use with removable belts. The concept for this type of belt buckle set is that you can easily and freely interchange the leather, fabric or ribbon belt portion to coordinate with whatever you are wearing on any given day to easily personalize your style. In the past I have sold vintage ones from Judith Lieber, St. John, Alexis Kirk and Mimi DiN.

It is made of a matte finish gold tone metal. There is a good weight and feel to it and there are no worn areas on the metal.

The two back loops on each buckle are 1 and 1/4 inches wide, meant for use with belt of no more than that width. These can also be used with ribbon or scarves to make your own unique belt.

As you can see from the photos, this is quite a beautiful buckle set, not too flashy, not too basic, which explains why Douglas Paquette buckles have retained their popularity.

In some of the photos I temporarily attached a black ribbon through the back loops so that it is apparent how the belt would actually be attached to each half of the belt buckle.

The hook on the back of one buckle that clasps into the metal rectangle on the other buckle to hold the belt in place is also lovely. Notice the carved work on it that resembles a flower or tree branch.
