Pair of Archaic Bronze Wine Vessels$823.00
This unique pair of archaic bronze Chinese wine vessels or hus would look beautiful flanked on a mantel or sideboard. The vessels have identical patterns featuring dragons and birds, as well as wonderful verdigris (appears to be applied) throughout. There are Chinese markings on the bottom that I am unable to identify. Each hu weighs approx. 3. 9 pounds. They date back to at least the early 20th century, possibly older.
The vessels mirror the style dating back to the Shang or Zhou periods. Bronzes of all types, including hu, were gifted for a variety of occasions including wedding gifts, funeral items, travel tokens, and even to commemorate real estate dealings.
CONDITION: Great overall condition with some dirt and wear. They have not been professionally cleaned. One appears to have a flaw on the inside bottom along with a stain. They could use a good cleaning but otherwise in great condition. Please message me for more photos or with questions.
MEASUREMENTS: Each is approx. 5"L x 5"W x 8 3/4"H.
