Fabric is a flexible raffia straw lined with a wide flexible net along with two side combs for placement. Right front holds a small bow with little sprigs of matching raffia straw.
Inner circumference is 20 inches. Measuring on the outside, side to side is 11 inches.
Excellent condition, still wearing the original sale tag with a price of $10.00. Label is Miss Sally Victor.
The following information is provided courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource. Sally Victor (1905-1977) first started making hats at Macy’s in 1924, then for L. Bamberger & Co. She opened her own millinery business on 53rd Street ,NYC in 1934 which grew to become one of the largest hat companies in the USA. In the early 1950s Victor’s Airwaves hat, which resembled a cut-out pie crust, was popularized when Mamie Eisenhower wore one to the Presidential inauguration. A new, lower-cost line which was geared toward a younger customer, Sally V, was launched in the 1950s. The business closed in 1965.
