Navy Embroidered Metallic Tulips Dress

This dress is a decade cusper that falls right around 1929 to 1930 and is a great example of the shifting fashion from the 1920s into the 1930s. The dress features embroidered gold metallic tulips on navy blue taffeta with a lovely sweetheart neckline. The ruffle bustle is everything! It is at the edge of the 1920s with a dropped front ruffle but far enough along in the late 20s or early 1930 to have 3 small bust darts and a pulled in waist. The back has a draped assymentrical neckline that forms a V and has a great fold over of fabric. The front bottom of the skirt is meant to be fuller and kick out when worn with the lower back bottom of the dress is more narrow for a slimmer rear silhouette. This will require a petite framed woman with a height of between 4'10-5' as the length is 52" from the top of the shoulder to the bottom hemline. There is light wear to the fabric around where the piping is on the shoulders. This has sewn in snaps to hold your slip in place. The dress was not shown with a slip under. The dress closure is on the side with 5 snaps and a top hook and eye. This would be a great dress for a Gatsby girl on a budget. The dress presents beautifully and would make an excellent evening gown for a 20s-30s party.

****Please make sure to measure yourself for an accurate fit and that you have extra inches for movement.

This is in good to fair condition. I only mention it being in fair condition because of the repaired rip to the back where the asymmetrical back "V" is and the amount of pin holes in the bottom portion of the skirt. It is still sturdy enough to wear certainly. All of the damage I have spotted, I try to show in the images. It has been soaked shortly but still has that basement musty smell. Probably will require a soak again to take care of the smell. This should have a belt but the original belt is missing. There are numerous pin holes scattered at the bottom right area of the skirt for the most part. I chose to leave these alone. With a black or navy slip they would not be noticeable. There have been a couple of pin holes tucked in areas where the fabric would pull if worn. There is a repair to a tear at the back asymmetrical backline shown in the images. Right around this area there are multiple spots that look worn where the inner construction is sewn down with a few stitches to hold it flat when worn. One small hole at a seam could be pulled in at bottom side seam. Some of the metallic bronze/gold that covers the tulip pattern is worn. Numerous seams have been repaired. Discoloration from perspiration at the underarms. At the area of underarm there is a spot where the gold metallic thread of one tulip pattern is missing. There is a light fade on a skirt ruffle and very light fade on one spot of the bottom front of the skirt. It is clean and ready to wear. Because of the extent of the damage and repairs to the piece it is listed AS IS to bring attention to this.
