Moroccan Djellaba Hooded Caftan$58.00
Very fine and soft fabric, feels like a cotton rayon blend with a little bit of wool? Feels a lot like a pashmina scarf so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a little bit of cashmere blended in. Really flattering and gorgeous design and that pink hood 🥰 open pockets as this is worn over your clothes, pants.
This is a North African (Morocco) mens style that dates back to ancient times. Traditionally for sun and sand protection, getting one was a big symbol of a boy transitioning into manhood. In the 40s women started wearing Djellabas as an FU to clothes being gendered just like how other parts of the world women were demanding pants in that era.
Thank you to the women of Morocco 🇲🇦 as it couldn’t have been easy for them and while first instinct is to feel the weight of such a symbolic item recognizing the history and drawing from their strength- that’s why they fought for it babies. It’s our job to tell the story and what greater way than to have a gorgeous outfit that you can tell everyone who compliments you it’s history.
