A stunning piece of history. This 1950's Black Cocktail Dress, Marilyn Monroe Dress, Ruched off-shoulder, with narrow wait and full bust and hips. I imagine this dress would've been quite a hit in it's time. Very Va-va-voom.
The ruching in the front appears to have lessened over time but this disappears when worn because the fabric stretches across the abdomen as can be seen in photos. It also appears as though some hand sewing occurs in this one.
