These are hard to date, espeically when they have pin backs as weird as this one. They were usually from Italy and this one is marked that way. Pretty, intricate little works of art were popular as souvenirs from the later 19th century and onward. Fun "checkerboard" pattern around edges. Hard to see if any of the black tiles are missing because some are set lower than others. The pin back is not long enough to be dated earlier than 30s to 50s at the newest. The pinback LOOKS like a trombone clasp at first but this is really a small tube that looks like a safety pin from the side! This is not a common type of pinback. You can see some of the finish is off on center of pin but the surface is smooth. CONDITION is evident when you see the back, just the usual wear. Many angles given so look closely. If you collect these you'll know what you're looking at!
