Genuine Hudson Bay Herter's
Men's 60s Hunting Jacket Camouflage Windbreaker Large to Extra Large$75.00
DETAILS: This is a vintage camouflage outdoors jacket from Herter's. Dating these classic garments is difficult, but I am guessing this goes back to the 1950s or 60s. It could be worn for hunting or as a windbreaker or chore jacket. It is simply styled, and staightcut to allow for layering underneath. All seams are flat felled (like classic blue jeans) for sturdiness. There are three patch pockets - one on the right chest, and two larger handwarmer pockets that have flaps and button closed.
SIZE: No size label
Chest - 50" (127 cm)
Shoulders - 21. 75" (55. 25 cm)
Length - 31" (78. 75 cm)
Sleeve length - 22" (56 cm) with 2" turned-up hem - see Condition Report
FABRIC/COLORS: No fabric content label - those were mandated in the US after beginning in the 1970s. There is nowhere to access a snippet of cloth for a fiber burn test - I am guessing cotton blend, and treated with something to make it water repellent/resistant. The fabric is medium weight and densely woven, camouflage pattern in shades of green to brown.
TAGS: Genuine Hudson Bay Herter's, since 1893, U. S.A. Outdoor Clothing, Official Guide Ass'n
CLOSURES: The jacket closes with five gray/brown plastic buttons down the front - buttonholes are horizontal.
CONDITION: A former owner shortened the sleeves by folding to the inside and using a sewing machine to stitch in place. The results are puckered in a few spots - see closeup. I have left it in place for new owner to decide their preference. It does look like there would be a fade line where the current sleeve bottom edge is. I also see a 1/8" vertical slit in the fabric along the edge of the chest pocket - see closeup. No other issues noted.
