Medieval Silver Fertility Cuff Bracelet$289.00
Medieval 14th 15th century authentic hand made fertility cuff bracelet in gilt silvered bronze. This amazing piece of Macedonian / Thracian history is a family jewel rooted in the traditions fertility and maternity, since it was to be given by a mother to her daughter upon her wedding and was to be worn until the daughter had her first child. It features ornate swirling, raised elements, raised breast details on the edges of the body and in the mile lies the swollen belly of the pregnant woman. An early and outstanding version of the bridge bracelet, who has been copied extensively in the Ottoman and later periods, but has it's origin in Macedonia / Thrace in the medieval period. The "Bridge" bracelet has its roots from the Thrace region.
It does have minor casting faults to the silver layer on the sides of the bracelet. The small holes on the sides are normal and were there to keep the piece from exploding when it was soldered together. It weighs 109 grams and is very small in size.
