If you admire butterflies this big bold and colorful butterfly three-dimensional brooch and bonus scarf are meant for you. Butterflies are a perennially favorite subject matter for brooches and it is always interesting to see the variety of styles in which butterfly brooches were made over the years. This brooch is three dimensional to suggest movement with a dark pink inner layer and a light grey top layer and it is embellished with clear rhinestones. The body and antennae of the butterfly are black enamel.

I newly mounted it on a painted lapiz shell backing which has a floral design and the same clear rhinestone accents.

It is recycled and renewed with a new magnetic-back clasp in place of the old rolling C style clasp and the overall size is 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter.

The rise from the base is 5/8 inch. This unusual brooch will sure to get comments for you so be prepared for attention when you wear it.

As a bonus to the new owner this butterfly brooch will arrive with a complimentary butterfly pattern all silk scarf in many soft shades on a pale yellow background.

Of course both the scarf and the brooch can be worn as fabulously versatile accessories whether worn together or separately.

As part of this recycling process I removed the old pin-style clasp and added a new backing plus a new magnetic back clasp to make it much easier and more secure to wear. Because of the options offered by the magnet vs. the traditional pin holder normally used on brooches this brooch can be worn on many types of garments.

The magnetic backs are easy to use:
With your thumb PUSH and SLIDE the top magnet off the bottom magnet. (DO NOT try to pull them apart because they are too strong.) Remember to always SLIDE.
Position your brooch anywhere convenient on top of your clothing and place the removed magnet beneath your garment and in back of the top magnet. Make sure you have the color-coded portion of the back magnet on the outside of the back. The 2 portions of the magnets will immediately bond together to create a secure attachment.
When you are ready to remove the brooch remember to use the same technique you used to put it on. Always SLIDE the bottom magnet off.
