This snake pin measures 2.5 inches tall and 2 inches wide. It is a bright gold metal with multiple auora borealis rhinestones, a transparent green glass eye cabochon and .75 inch marbled blue glass jelly belly. The tongue and fangs have been enameled red. There are striated and dotted detail in the scales and fluted tail end. It is slightly heavy with all this going on! The pin on back is 1 inch and closes with a roll over safety clasp which is still functional.

It was probably made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
