Large Copper Whimsical Hot Air Balloon Hanging Sculpture$2,900.00
You will get lost in the beauty of this rare and unique copper and brass hanging sculpture of an 18th-century French style hot air balloon, with details galore. This incredible piece is one-of-a-king and 100% hand made. The sculpture doesn't just capture the beauty of a hot air balloon, it tells a full story with the hot air balloon appearing as if it's soaring in the wind with a passenger in the ballon having a net and catching birds. There is even a bird cage with an already captured bird and other birds circling the balloon and passenger. The hot air balloon itself is outfitted with ornate flags and banners and it hangs by a long wire at the top. The perfect center piece for a special room and a definite conversation starer. This artwork was previously owned by Christopher Harwood who is known for his work on legendary shows including Wings, Will and Grace, and The Big Bang Theory to name just a few. His wife was also a famous costume designer so there is a strong chance this piece was used on a Hollywood set. Regardless of it's film industry history, it is strikingly beautiful and whimsical. Be sure to look through our close up photos to see the details the artist captured. No mark or signature was found, but it may be a Curtis Jere sculpture.
