Impeccable unique geometric vintage quilt appliqué front-zip caftan dress:

Had no idea of its origins initially: But just one look and knew this was something special. Then recently, I saw another similar one at a vintage show, for twice the price and much poorer condition, marked as, ‘1950’s American Seminole quilted’. I have also seen this kind of quilting listed as ‘Thai Hill Tribe’. I believe this (and the one I saw from another seller) is the latter of the two, for its colors. Fascinating how these cultures so far apart geographically both practiced this distinctive patchwork style made from piecing small colorful pieces of fabric in horizontal bands. Whichever it is, this dress was entirely handmade by someone with treasured handed-down skills, and done so impeccably.

This was sold to me as 1960’s.

The multi-layered intricate geometric adorning in turn creates structure and weight up and down the dress.
