Full length brilliant gemstone green, this hostess lounging gown is from the early 1970's and was Made by Shadowline. The original paper hang tag remains attached. Versatile in style, this can be worn A-line as it is shown here, or belted for a more fitted look. Sleeves are full length and there are four top buttons and a fold down collar. Hostess gowns like this were quite stylish in the early to mid 1970's. Today this gown is opaque enough that I can envision someone wearing it as a dress.

The size tag shows a size Small, however please refer to the exact measurements to determine if this will fit you as sizing has changed quite a bit over the years.

We know this was made in the very early 1970's because there are no laundry instructions on the tag. However, it is nylon and you will be able to safely launder it. I have not done that since the original paper hang tag is still attached.

As the photos show, this has two hidden side pockets. This is a very figure friendly style, meant to float beautifully over your body as you can see in the photos where the breeze moves the fabric.

Shadowline was a lingerie company, located in Morganton, North Carolina. It was founded in 1946 by Sherrod Salsbury, Jr. The company had the reputation of producing lingerie of very high quality.

This was an original Salesroom sample, meant to be displayed in a Shadowline showroom. That is where department store and boutique lingerie buyers would come to see what was available to order. The salesroom is where they could buy merchandise in bulk for a future season.

This classic never worn hostess gown remains in Pristine Mint Vintage condition.
