Made in the USA of bright red wool felt the bottom 3 inches are covered with a shiny red band of red lace. The proverbial "feather in the cap" is the crown of red and black feathers cascading up the front and down one side. It is 6 inches tall with a slightly rounded center dome.

A toque is defined as a type of hat with a very narrow brim or no brim at all. Toques were popular from the 13th to the 16th century in Europe especially in France. The mode was revived in the 1930's and again in the 1980's.

Inside the brim measures 22 and 1/4 inches around.
