Heart Lovebird Statement Gold Washed 1940s Brooch

This vintage brooch pin from the 1940s makes a strong statement on a blazer or jacket lapel, on a dress, shirt or hat.

Brooch is a heart shaped design.

Nesting in the center are two lovebirds who are neck to neck kissing.

Birds are sitting upon a ranch with flowers.

Each flower has a white rhinestone placed in the center of it.

I add interest and dimension the tail of one bird and the flowers on the opposite side of this bird rest outside of heart.

Back is completely gold washed with workable clasp and pin bar.

Due to World War II and the need for certain metals such as a brass were needed for the war effort As a result, sterling silver became the popular metal for jewelry with a gold washed placed on top.

At this time, not all the jewelry got stamped with the sterling mark. I believe this is a sterling gold washed brooch that is not stamped.

Condition is good except for age scratches and minor tarnishing (see photos).

Entire brooch is entirely gold washed.

I love the fact that each side of the brooch has subtle differences in the placement of the live birds, flowers and tree branch.
