The maker of this incredible belt, Il Gioiello Di Firenze, translates to "The Jewel of Florence." This is the company that does development of prototypes and often manufactures jewelry for the great luxury brands. Almost all of the information about them online is in Italian, but I was able to piece together this quote from a translated version of their website: "The Jewel of Florence has always been synonymous with the constant creativity, research and development in the creation of accessories and costume jewelry for the high fashion Embroideries, Applications and Creation of Original Bijoux or on the Customer’s Design.” Not quite how it would be written in native English, but you get the idea. I believe this belt dates from to the 1980s, maybe early 1990s at the latest. I have seen extremely few pieces of this brand of jewelry over the years, and never a belt, making it not only stunning to look at, but extremely rare. The belt is made with four tubes of gunmetal-colored scales that connect to a large buckle embellished with clear and critrine-colored crystals. It measures 32.25 inches long when clasped, and is not adjustable This would put it in the size Large range, although it could be worn a little below the natural waist on Medium sizes. The buckle is 4.25" x 3.125".The condition is "excellent vintage condition" meaning that it has no structual flaws or missing elements, but it does have some wear on the metal confined almost entirely to the back of the buckle.
