Edwardian Romantique White Linen Nightgown Sack Back

This is a romantic Edwardian-era white linen nightgown. The gown has a high lace neckline with a little lace ruffle around the neck. It has a striped lace yoke that buttons down the center and ends in a large ruffle that covers the bust. It is trimmed in lace that ends at the shoulders. It has full, slightly puffed long sleeves that are cuffed at the wrist with frilly lace cuffs that hang down over the hand. The body of the nightgown is simple and is loose-fitting, falling to the ankles. The hem edge is decorated with pin tucking and a flounce adding volume to the skirt. The back of the nightgown is a bit more fun as the gown has a sack back/ waterfall style with some dense pleating at the back of the neck that also adds volume to the back of the skirt making it more visible when it moves. The placket that buttons up in the yoke runs all the way down to the waist and has no facings past the bust. On the inside, there are the original owner‘s initials written in pen A.R.G.

Condition:
The nightgown is in great condition overall with only some small repairs to the pleats on the sack back. They are small and do not show on the outside of the fabric but it is a slightly weak spot to the gown. The rest of the gown is in great condition and the repairs do not affect the wearability of the gown. It has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.

Size:
A note on antique nightgowns. They are meant to be quite loose-fitting and the most size restrictive areas are the armholes. Please look at that measurement to make sure it will fit.
If you have any questions I am happy to help.
