Gorgeous 1900s or earlier silk table topper or piano shawl, with incredible detailed couching embroidery. One side is embroidered and the other is solid pink silk. Hand knotted tasseled fringe. The embroidery features a central figure - a large bird surrounded by flowers and butterflies. The thread is matte and contrasts beautifully with the silk which has a high sheen. If you look closely you can see detailed eyes on the bird and butterflies. The detail on this piece is amazing! The subject matter has an Asian vibe. It's very beautiful and rare. It should be displayed as a work of art.

There are a few small stains, one small tear within the larger of the stains (pictured), some loose threads. In a few places the fringe is pink instead of gold.

It measures 42" x 44", and an additional 6" fringe.
