Edwardian White Linen Lawn Shirt Puffed Sleeves Eyelet and Embroidery

This is just the most fantastic Edwardian linen shirtwaist. It has a high collar with embroidery and eyelets. The front of the shirt has pin-tucking detail around the shoulders and at the front of the neck. There is more stunning embroidery and eyelet detail down the front of the shirt. In the back, there is more pin tucking. The shirt also buttons up the back with wonderful tiny shell buttons. The shirt has ties to control the volume at the waistline that ties in the front. They also give the shirt that iconic pigeon-breasted Gibson girl silhouette. There are also little eyes on each side of the tie in the back. These would hook to your skirt to keep them matched and together. The best part of this blouse is the sleeves. They are so good. They are long sleeves and have very long cuffs that go from the wrist to just under the elbow. They have matching embroidery on them and button-ups with the same wonderful tiny shell buttons. Above the cuff, the sleeves are full and puff out at the elbow and at the shoulder. They are just so fun and of the era.

Condition:

The blouse is in wonderful condition with only minor flaws to note. One is that there is a small pinhole on the back of the blouse near the buttons. It is small and not very obvious. The other thing to note is the ties. They are very short, too short to tie. Most likely they were trimmed or cut for an unknown reason. If you have a 26” or smaller waist you could just add a hook and eye to them so they attach at the waist. These are really small little flaws that do not take away from just how wonderful this shirt really is. It has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.

Note The blouse was originally starched and even through all the laundering, it is still very starched and stiff. This does not affect the shirt in any way but is just an FYI.
