Edwardian Edwardian Cream Silk Wedding Gown Wax Pearl Beading and Train

This is just a dreamy Edwardian confection of a cream silk charmeuse wedding gown. It is from around the early teen era (1912 ish). The bodice of the dress is stunningly embellished with so many large wax pearl beads and tons of little pearl seed beads. The neckline is high with net lace. The lace is also continued into the ¾ length sleeves. There is a braided silk belt at the empire waist of the dress. The skirt of the dress is simpler in comparison to the bodice but is still just stunning. It is a floor-length skirt that hangs close to the body. A bit below the knees is a wonderful large pintuck that is trimmed in silk tassels that along with the train of the dress adds just the right amount of drama and movement to it. The train on this dress is wonderful and is very interestingly constructed. The train almost looks like it is two pieces with a longer square section that is padded and weighted. This square section is attached to the sides of the skirt and the skirt falls in a circle at the feet. The bodice as well as the train are both lined in a light white cotton. The dress even has its original dress protectors in the arms. The dress fastens with hooks and eyes down the back as the skirt wraps around to the side to hide the fastenings.

Condition:

This dress is overall in fantastic condition with only a few small flaws. There were a couple of, max quart-sized holes, that have been patched and are only noticeable if you know where to look. There are also some spots of subtle staining, most noticeably on the back of one shoulder. There are also a few beads that are missing or are broken, there are so few thoughts and it's hard to notices the missing ones. The other thing to note is that there was a lining section that has since been removed prior to my ownership that would have closed the skirt off from the train. I do not know why it was removed but I have a handful of other dresses of this era and style with that section removed with only one dress in my possession still having the section intact. Otherwise this dress is still in fantastic condition and it is just stunning. It has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear if you so choose to.
