Upcycled and ready to wear, the vintage brooch in the center is a square of abstract muted color enamel, surrounded by a half diamond silver tone metal open work frame. I removed the old pin style rolling c clasp back and added a new rectangular backing of geometric design plastic in teal, green, white and purple.

For the final step I added a magnetic-back clasp to make it easier to wear. This resulting piece is like a small piece of artwork, open to your own interpretation.

It is 2 and 1/4 by 1 and 3/4 inches in size.

Because the vintage brooch is mounted on the new plastic disk, the rise from the center is 5/8 inch.

The original vintage brooch was unsigned.

As a bonus to the new owner, this magnetic-back brooch will arrive with a complimentary large multi-color chiffon oblong scarf that can be worn with this vintage brooch or on its own. That scarf is shown in these photos.

Firmly attached to the back is a very strong magnet that will hold this brooch to your garment, handbag, scarf, or virtually where ever you choose. Because of the options offered by the magnet vs. the traditional pin used on brooches, this recycled brooch can be worn in any direction. In the photos I showed it worn turned several ways.

Quality neodymium rare earth Magnetic Fasteners are used on the back of each brooch as opposed to the traditional pin clasp. Magnetic fasteners will not damage or put holes in your clothing.

The magnetic backs are easy to use:
With your thumb, PUSH and SLIDE the top magnet off the bottom magnet. (DO NOT try to pull them apart because they are too strong.) Remember to always SLIDE.
Position your brooch anywhere convenient on top of your clothing and place the removed magnet beneath your garment and in back of the top magnet. Make sure you have the color-coded portion of the back magnet on the outside of the back. The 2 portions of the magnets will immediately bond together to create a secure attachment.
When you are ready to remove the brooch, remember to use the same technique you used to put it on. Always SLIDE the bottom magnet off.
