Vintage 1950s shirtwaist day dress. New with tags, although the inside label has been cut out. Manufactured by Pacific Mills Fabrics and made of a "washable shantung", woven of "pima cotton and cupioni" to mimic the look and feel of Italian silk. Attached tags have care instructions which include washing in warm water using mild detergent and hanging to dry.
Dress features metallic rhinestone buttons up the center front and at the cuffs, hook and eye at the waist, gored skirt, and vented pleated back. I love the large pointy collar and turned up crossover detail on the cuffs.
Shown unpinned on dress form set at 36-28-36.
Measurements:
Bust~40 inches (approximately, no seams but the bust is darted)
Waist~29 inches
Length~46. 74 inches total length. 17. 75 inches down center back to waist seam. 29 inches from waist to hem.
Sleeve~a hair under 10 inches from where the underarm curves
Condition: In near excellent condition. New with tags. It does need a cleaning - there is some soiling on the tops of the shoulders, I assume from being stored on a hanger. It's pretty faint and I only saw it in direct sunlight once I had it on the dress form. Belt is missing and label has been cut out. Priced gently due to condition.
Color: Gray
Material: Cotton & silk
