This brooch is made of seven cabochon cut orange coral set in a golden brass back. The 2 x 1 inch, open work layered open work setting has great Beaux Art design detail. The smooth cabochon cut pieces of orange coral measure 1/8 inch and the one in the middle is 3/8 inch. One of the coral cabs on the end has a tiny chip in it, but does not take away from this beauty. The 1.75 inch C-clasp pin on back still locks closed. It is a very typical Beaux Art to flapper style transition piece.
This ring is circa 1930 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time, probably Neiger. There are no marks or manufacturer name on this piece, but appears to be a Neiger Brothers design. The Neiger Brothers started making jewelry in 1903, only to flee Germany and move their factory to another country in the 1930's. They did not mark their jewelry.
