Barbizon
Classic Early 60s Barbizon Nightgown Blush

Barbizon was established in 1933 as a manufacturer of women’s rayon lingerie. The company was unique in that it also made the fabric for whatever garments were sewn. They specialized in high-quality synthetic blends, which they gave romantic names such as, Satin de Lys and Angel Blendaire. The company was sold to Vanity Fair in 1991.

This early 60’s Barbizon summer nightgown is signature. The batiste fabric is soft and sheer and the color an ever- so- light shade of pink. Slipping on over-the-head, the empire bodice is tucked and edged with a delicate white lace inset and pastel embroidered trim, creating the scalloped V-neckline. The matching white lace inset just below the bodice and also along the hemline adds another lovely accent. The satin ribbons provide another nice feminine detail.
