Berebi
Brooch Red and Black Enamel On Gold Tone Metal with Swirl Design Early 80s Logo and Design Lightweight Unique Designer Vintage by Berebi$24.25
Red black and gold with a unique shape and style this is a collectible vintage Berebi abstract style brooch. Here is your chance to wear a piece of vintage Berebi who began designing jewelry in Brooklyn New York in 1981. His pieces were an immediate hit in the 1980's accessories market. You can see his label on the reverse side. My research establishes that he used this epoxy marbling stick-on label (marked c. Berebi) only during 1983.
As you can see in the photos this brooch is medium sized at an irregular 3 and 1/2 inches by 1 and 1/2 inches at the largest points. From the base there is a rise of approximately 1/4 inch in the center. This is lightweight metal so in spite of the fact it is larger the brooch is not at all heavy.
The gold-tone metal is in good condition with very few signs of age or wear of the gold plating certainly nothing that would keep you from using this piece.
Overall this vintage brooch is in Excellent Vintage condition.
In the detail photos you can see that there is design even within the red and black enamel sections and that is lightly swirled color.
I also appreciate how the matte finish of the swirl part of the brooch accents the shiny gold tone trim and the shiny enamel.
The rolling c back clasp pin on the back is in perfect working order.
This vintage brooch comes with an Edgar Berebi gift box which is a rare find! Having the box after so many years is unusual. This may not be the original box for this brooch however it is a nice bonus to have a Berebi box.
