Blue Velveteen Shirt-Waist$155.00
Incredible midnight blue velveteen shirt-waist or bodice covered in tiny silver dots. It is very similar to another one I had recently in a different color with the same silver dots!
Lovely bishop sleeves. It has hidden hook and eye closures down the front, slightly off center, behind decorative mother of pearl buttons, and a pigeon front shape. Button holes in the collar and cuffs for button studs and/or cufflinks. There is one button stud still present in the collar.
Bodice is lined with soft blue cotton. No boning in this piece.
The sleeves and overall shape of this piece help date it to approximately 1902-1903.
+++ Measurements +++
Up to 38" bust (meant to be loose)
22" waist
11. 5" shoulders
+++ Condition +++
Condition is worn and likely best for study or display. There is a faint odor from storage. I have not cleaned this piece.
Overall the fabric is fairly strong (cotton), but there is some wear to the velveteen pile in places and some of the dots have worn off or faded significantly in higher wear areas such as the underarms.
Other flaws noted:
* Stains in the lining and a few on the sleeves
* A few small holes and a larger hole in shoulder/collar area
* Loose trim in one place
