This is another beautiful black velvet garment that didn't photograph well, because the black velvet absorbs all the light, and the details are lost. It is a full-length "opera coat" with one large self-covered button at the waist and a smaller one at the neck. It has ties on the inside to adjust the fit at the waist, large padded shoulders, 3.5-inch cuffs, and a fur collar that looks like rabbit. The velvet shell of the coat is probably silk and rayon blend, and the ivory-colored satin lining is probably acetate. The velvet shell is in excellent condition with no apparent flaws. The lining has some soil along the hemline, but no other significant issues. However, the collar is splitting at the back of the neck, and the fur is shedding. This coat probably dates to the 1930s or 1940s and is still in remarkably good condition overall. Our sizing tables indicate that it would fit Medium and Large sizes 8-12. CONDITION
The velvet shell is in excellent condition with no apparent flaws. The lining has some light soil along the hemline but has no other issues. The fur collar is splitting at the back of the neck and the fur is shedding.
