Black Velvet Wide Collar Plaid Taffeta 50’s Dress$70.00
This 1950s black and brown plaid taffeta cocktail dress is topped off with a lovely black velvet portrait collar. The textures of the crisp acetate taffeta and the soft rayon velvet complement each other, and the shiny, black glass buttons fastening the front of the dress add sparkle! Nearly hidden under the wide collar are cap sleeves. The bodice, waist and hips are shaped by darts. The dress is unlined, and in very good condition, with two minor issues to note: 1. one of the glass buttons is a bit lighter than the others (original to the piece, but faintly discolored), and 2. the dress waist has its original string belt loops, but no belt is present. We think it would look great with either a black patent belt, to match the shiny black buttons, or a black velvet belt, to match the collar. This authentic vintage, 1950s dress appears to be petite, or a short-waisted vintage half-size, based on the measurements, please check carefully to make sure that the bodice length will work for you, and feel free to contact us with any fit questions. Because the dress is loose on our mannequin, we have shown it both pinned to fit her, and unpinned, to give a better idea of its actual size and shape.
