Vintage 1990s sweater set from Averardo Bessi comprises a short-sleeved pullover sweater and a matching, six-button cardigan. Both pieces are a fine gauge wool knit with swirling floral and foliate motifs. Both pieces are labeled Italian size 44, which generally corresponds to a US size 8. Notes: Founded in 1950, the Averardo Bessi label introduced his famously printed fabrics that were reminiscent of Emilio Pucci, one of his contemporaries, in 1966 (some sources state that Bessi was in fact a fabric designer for Pucci). Bessi designs still have a very loyal following among European and American women, and his vintage pieces are highly collectible.
