Lavish antique set of 4 "Utopia" pattern bone dishes (semi-circle side plates), made by J & G Meakin Hanley in England. These elegant crescent shaped dishes feature a gorgeous and ornate hand painted green floral design with 22kt gold detailing. These dishes originally used in the late 1800's and early 1900's for discarding bones from your meal. They were served as a side plate to guests upon which the bones could be placed away from the dish. They could of course be used for whatever you please: sauce dishes, serving snacks, trinket dishes, decor, etc... Perfect for fine dining, a semi-formal meal, or any art nouveau lover. The undersides are marked "Utopia, Hanley J & Gmeakin, England, Semi-Porcelain" This specific marking and pattern were made in 1907.
