Antique Victorian Sky Blue Silk Victorian Bodice Hand Sewn Off The Shoulder Young Woman Padded$150.00
This is a wonderful ruffly 1850s silk (evening) bodice in a striking sky blue silk. The bodice is most likely meant for a young woman as the bodice has wonderful padding to the lining to help fill out the silhouette. The bodice has a very wide scoop neckline where the shoulders are just sitting on the tips of the shoulders. The sleeves are very cute with wonderful little puffy ruffles. They are a little smushed from age but are still so fun. The bodice is short and ends at the natural waist. The bodice is boned with some of the thinnest whalebone I have seen. The bodice was made entirely by hand and is lined with white linen. I mentioned the padding, it is mostly at the bust area where it meets the armpit to help fill out the silhouette where it would have been gaping on the original wearer. The bodice has brass hooks and eyes up the back to fasten.
Condition:
The bodice is in great condition with only a few small spots of wear and one stain. The stain is on the front of the bodice under the bust. There are a few small wear spots, one on the neckline, and one under the arm. They are small overall. The hooks and eyes also may have been moved as there are some marks on the back that suggest that. Otherwise, this bodice is in great condition. It is a small size so it might be best for display but it is stunning.
