Victorian 1860 Drop Shoulder Linen Nightgown Balloon Sleeves$150.00
This is wonderful circa 1860s Victorian nightgown made of soft white linen. The nightgown is simple in design with a high collar that is trimmed in a scalloped lace with floral embroidery. The trim runs from the collar all the way down the front placket/buttons. The nightgown does button all the way up with small plastic buttons, (at some point the buttons have been replaced and they are a little small). The best part of this nightgown, and why I believe it is early, is that it has drop shoulders. This is created when the shoulder seam starts completely past the shoulders. The sleeves are wonderful balloon-style sleeves and the cuffs are loose and trimmed in lace. This nightgown can be so much fun to layer under dresses, tops, and sweaters. It also looks great when the waist is belted.
Condition:
The nightgown is in great condition with only the buttons having been replaced at some point. The nightgown has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.
Sizing:
A note on antique nightgowns. They are meant to be quite loose fitting and the most size restrictive areas are the armholes. Please look at that measurement to make sure it will fit. If you have any questions I am happy to help.
