This is an amazing piece of history. Believe it or not this is day-wear! It is a fitted velvet bolero navy jacket with fitted inset sleeves with shaped cuffs ending in a satin trim. Wider shaped collar trimmed with a heavy brocade ivory lace. Black chemisette drawn lace inset panel. There are so many hook and eyes on the inside of the garment. It obviously attached to a skirt which I have somewhere but anyway under the chemisette there is an attached at the shoulder soft coffee colored cotton which is attached to the jacket. It's all very confusing however this garment is totally wearable if you are small enough.

The hooks and eyes are the 1920s at the earliest. (They were invented around 1905 and these are a later version.) Construction on this is all a bit odd. Overall, probably the 30s, between the wars. The cut of the sleeves reads as quite 30s as well. This would be worn as evening wear.

condition: back of collar needs tacking down. Perspiration stains on the inside of the coat. Brocade lace needs tacking down at collar.
