Antique Snake Pin$48.00
This snake brooch is from the turn of the century. It is small and measures 1. 5 inches long and 5/8 inch wide. The five colorful paste cut stones are blue, simulated sapphires, red for rubies and yellow for topaz. The metal is probably rolled gold. The snake has details of cross hatching for his scales and two tiny eyes. It closes with a c-clasp which is still functional.
Even though this piece is in excellent condition, please wear and store with care. It is at least 100 years old! It is a classic Belle Epoque design, consistent with its age being the turn of the century. Also, colored stones, as opposed to clear, became more into fashion with the advent of electricity in homes and public places.
It was probably made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
This piece of jewelry is sent with no shipping charge in a bubble pack envelope via US postal service, first class mail with insurance in the US and comes in an animal print gift box.
International rate is $15 including insurance. Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I am sorry, but Aqua Lady Vintage is not responsible for delays due to customs, since when it leaves the United States, it is out of our control.
