Antique Set of Two Framed and Matted Botanical Prints

Antique set of two framed and matted botanical prints, prepared by Pieter de Pannemaeker (a noted 19th century Belgium artist and lithographer).

Piece 1: These exquisite antique Botanical prints are from L'Illustration Horticole, one of the great Belgian horticultural periodicals of the 1800s. Published from 1854 to 1896, L'Illustration Horticole featured a monthly review of noteworthy plants for the greenhouse and garden. Included were descriptions, illustrations, history and advice on cultivating the plants. These prints are particularly noteworthy for the richness of the coloring, resulting from the chromolithographic process used to produce them. The chromolithograph Botanical prints was prepared by Pieter de Pannemaeker, noted 19th century Belgium artist and lithographer. This piece has a cherry wood frame (with minor ware) and blue matting. The flower featured is "Odontoglossum Adrianae". It has been framed with a clear backing so you can see the back of the page! The print itself is in great condition but has dark spots on the front in the corners from being glued. It has a universal mounting bracket for easy hanging on any wall.
