Antique Orange-red Coral Ring Sterling With Pearls$175.00
This is a weighty, impressive ring, a true antique from an estate ... I've seen similar pieces identified as Austro-Hungarian, Edwardian, Victorian, and more ... I'd say it's an Arts & Crafts style and probably from the 1930s or earlier, like other pieces from that estate.
The metal is unmarked but tests as sterling silver. There seem to be some remnants of gold plating. I haven't cleaned this one because the patina is really beautiful.
Condition is overall good. The coral is in good condition and a lovely orange-red color (not a true red; colors on monitors do vary). The six little seed pearls, however, have lost much of their nacre. Some still have the luster, but one does look sort of pitiful, as pictured.
Measurements
ring size 6.25
mount: 23.75mm (almost an inch)
coral: 14.0mm long
seed pearls: about 1.5 mm (approximate)
weight: 13.22 grams
It's a pretty fabulous piece--even the mount on the inside is well decorated.
From a nonsmoking, pet-loving home.
