Antique Edwardian Lace and Embroidered Bodice Silk Cumberbun

This bodice is a lacy dream. The entire upper part of the bodice is made entirely of lace. The lace at the neckline and collar is different from the lace of the rest of the bodice. The bodice has ¾ length sleeves that are cuffed and have embroidered silk trim with more lace. The rest of the bodice does also features more embroidered silk trim and a large floral section that is above the black taffeta cumberbund. There are also black taffeta details on the shoulders that have a lattice pattern. The cumberbund cinches the bodice at the waist and at the back, it has the most fantastic swirl glass buttons. The bodice completely fastens up the back with a hook and eyes that overlap down the back. The bodice is quite heavily boned with all the bones being in the cummerbund at the waist and stays to hold the high neck up. The bodice is fully lined in cream silk.

Condition

The issues with this bodice are mostly confined to the lining which has dried out and is shattering all over. This affects the boning as it was only attached to the lining layer of the bodice. The lace of the bodice is in near mint condition with the only issue being the discoloration that has developed over time. All the embroidered trim is also near mint condition with the only issue to the exterior being a little damage to the black silk taffeta of the cumberbund at the back where it fastens and the discoloration under the arms. This bodice, with the issues only being on the inside, still displays stunningly and is a wonderful piece of history to add to any collection.
