This is wonderful Victorian first edition of A Knight of the White Cross by G. A. Henty. Beautiful and rare antique edition, with 12 illustrations by Ralph Peacock. Nice embossed cloth cover with gold lettering and a wonderful spine design.

It is in fair antique condition with definite signs of wear and age. The cover is just barely attached at the spine (see photos), the main text is still tight though and a I believe it would not be a difficult fix for a book restorer. It also looks like the cross on the cover has "colored in " with pencil. I imagine a board school boy from many years ago doing this. This may also be fixable but I think it adds a bit of charm.
