Faith Ringgold is An artist (her books are based on the story quilts she sewed and have been exhibited in museums around the world) and her artistry is evident in this colorful book.

This book is based on the real life escape from slavery using the Underground Railroad by her great great grandmother who lived to be 110! Faith herself is still a performance artist at 91 today!

The book is the first Scholastic edition printed in 1992 and I’ve priced it lower due to the worn condition of the binding, but the pictures are in glorious shape and it’s very readable.
