There's nothing quite like the beauty and tradition behind the art of passementerie...

And, these days there aren't many houses that still practice this hand-done craft. After researching Scalamandre, DeClercq, etc., I believe this tassel may have been from Samuel & Sons in New York City (nearby where this was found!). It is made from silk or silk blend fibers that come in a subtle earth tone palette; rust red, pale golden beige and soft sage green. The overall condition is excellent although there is a very mild misalignment to the cording/cable at the top section of the knob (see pic), plus a few of the twists have untwisted toward the center of the tassel.

Measurements:

- 30" total length
- 18" length from end of loop to knot
- 2" ball diameter
- 3" approx. tassel width
- 6" tassel length
