This circa late 1990s or early 2000s black wool jacket by Sonia Rykiel has a hint of military or sailor styling, with its boxy, double-breasted design, and the fun, epaulet/tassel detail on the left shoulder. Wide, notched lapels and medium-sized, squared shoulder pads add sharply tailored flair! The jacket buttons in front with large black plastic buttons, imprinted with Sonia Rykiel, and smaller logo buttons trim the long, straight sleeves. Vertical darts gently shape the waist in front. The giant welted pockets on the front are decorative, and a heavy, gold-metal charm dangles from the right one. The center back of the jacket is trimmed in true minimalist fashion, with an unusual, very clean-looking center seam. The jacket is fully lined with black acetate taffeta. The midnight black wool fabric is mid-weight, with just a hint of elastane woven into it (3%). In very good condition, this Rykiel creation has some scratches on the plastic buttons as its only issue to note (see close-up photo). Otherwise, it looks hardly or never worn, and pristine! The high-hip length and classic silhouette is very versatile: its will look equally great worn casually with jeans, or dressed up a bit with high-waisted trousers or skirts.
