I feel it falls around the late 70s/early 80s at the time Avant Garde was making its debut in the fashion world. Avant Garde art came from the mid 1850s and resurfaced again and again. The definition of Avant Garde is bold, innovative, progressive and experimental. Meaning visionary and ahead of its time. This coat embodies all of that. Certainly wearable and meant to be worn, but it is also a work of art.
